The Association of Language Educators was inaugurated on 4th September, 2018 in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. It comprises a group of language educators from numerous globally recognized higher institutions within and outside Nigeria. These educators are highly committed to raising the quality of language teaching and use in the society. This, it believes can only be accomplished through the creation of awareness, research as well as provision of services and assistance to all stakeholders. Members are passionate about ensuring that language plays its fundamental role in society and this passion is driven by a vision, mission and objectives which are translated into diverse activities such as workshops and training for language teachers, advocacy, conferences, dissemination of research findings, mentoring and a host of others. Membership, as associate or full members, is open to those who have a doctorate or are enrolled for a doctorate in language education or other language-related fields.

Objectives
- To contribute positively to the theory and practice of Language Education globally.
- To provide services to teachers at various educational tiers that will promote effective teaching and learning of language globally.
- To promote the professional development of Language Education scholars and practitioners.
- To provide technical assistance on language related matters to government and corporate bodies globally.
- To consider regularly Language Education issues and advise government appropriately.
- To increase awareness on the central role of language in instruction and the society.
- To cooperate with organisations which have similar aims and objectives with those of the Association.
